Observations

Scanning over the most recent receipts, it occurs to me that we've been going to a store - sometimes the same store! - almost every night. It's insane. I sat here for a while tonight, giving everything some thought, trying to figure out what in heaven's name was going on... and I think I've finally figured it out.

Under normal conditions, I keep my car on certain days and do all the shopping during the day while A. is at work and K. is at school. However, we've not been working under normal conditions lately. Since he got back into town, A. has been using my car exclusively. He has offered to let me keep it to run errands a few times (with him either taking his car or me driving him to work), but with the extensive burns I suffered recently, driving (much less doing all the stretching and bending involved with a short woman shopping) was out of the question unless absolutely necessary. I was just in far too much pain - not to mention so extremely tired while healing - to put a shirt on my burns and go shopping. Anywhere. For anything. So A. has been driving me to this store or that one after he gets home from work.

There was one instance where we had to go back to Sam's a few days after we'd just been there because we needed water - they had been out the day we'd gone and after looking at other stores, I remembered why I normally drive over to Sam's for it (cheaper cost for higher quantity) - and it wasn't going to wait until this weekend when I had originally planned to go back for salad greens.

Another instance we went back for more menstrual pads. In that case, we're still trying out the new brand (Natracare) and didn't buy enough supplies for the month. Notation has been made on my monthly shopping needs list and that probably won't happen again. After a few months, we'll be as well stocked as we were before.

It's just little things - little adjustments - that have us looking crazy right now. Little things that don't happen or don't bother us under normal circumstances.

I guess, looking at the big picture, I can breathe a small sigh of relief that this isn't the normal trend. Anyone looking in through the small window I'm creating with this blog would surely think I'm insane, but no, that's not the case (ok, maybe, but not because of this!!). Things are just a little hectic and out of balance lately. Things will get back to normal soon, though.
